If you have been familiar with Outlook 2007 or 2003 and are trying to figure out how to do the familar task of opening another users folder or their entire mailbox in Outlook 2011 you may be frustrated that they have been moved. Here is the new procedure.

How to open other user's folders or mailbox Outlook 2010.

You will of course need to have rights to access the folders or mailbox first. There are two ways to approach this.

You can quickly open another users folder by:

  1. File
  2. Open
  3. Other User's Folder
  4. Select the user and folder name

You can semi permanently add their mailbox to your Outlook view:

  1. File
  2. Info
  3. Account settings
  4. Account settings (not a duplicate)
  5. Email tab
  6. Select Exchange Server
  7. Change
  8. More Settings
  9. Advanced
  10. Add

Other User's Inbox
Why do you state that you add it semi-permanently? I added a generic email account where we receive emails from the public. I can access the inbox but when i click on the folder name I get the message microsoft cannot access the folder. I guess because the email account name is not really a folder?? How do I fix that?

Incorrect heading
These instructions are for Outlook 2010 on the PC, not Outlook 2011 on the Mac - totally different kettle of fish.
