MyDefrag is a disk defragmenter and optimizer (a maintenance utility to make your hard disk faster) for Windows 2000, 2003, XP, Vista, 2008, Win7, and for X64. It is freeware, no time limit, fully functional, no advertisements. Fast, low overhead, with many optimization strategies, can handle floppies, USB disks, memory sticks, and anything else that looks like a disk to Windows. Included are a set of easy to use scripts for end users, a scripting engine for demanding users, a screensaver, and a combined Windows plus command line version that can be scheduled by the Windows task scheduler or for use from administrator scripts.
I really like this Defrag Utility. It works well and keeps getting better.
It's a free tool allowing to graphically display the hard disk space usage : it shows all the directories and subdirectories of the hard drive on a single graph, allowing to see the largest directories at a glance.
The graph this tool creates allows you to zoom right in on where the large space usage is. Recently I was working on a server that was short on disk space on the system drive. The server did not have that much installed on the system drive but there was only 800MB free. I checked all the usual suspects without luck. I ran HDGraph and immediately found two rogue files totaling 8GB buried deep in a folder.
Notepad++ is a free (as in "free speech" and also as in "free beer") source code editor and Notepad replacement that supports several languages. Running in the MS Windows environment, its use is governed by GPL License.
