Your PC Needs an Update

Microsoft Windows Biggest patch Update Ever Released
 

Every 2nd Tuesday of every month, Microsoft releases important updates for Windows. On October 13th, 2009, Windows released its biggest patch ever: 13 patches that address security problems in computers running Windows operating system. These patches, fix 34 vulnerabilities in 13 updates. 8 of the 13 security updates have been rated critical, meaning a hacker could potentially gain control of an infected machine if it is not updated.
We urge every Window user to get this very much needed update as soon as possible.
 

Windows XP users:
 

  • Open Internet Explorer. Click on the "Tools" menu, then "Windows Update".
  • Click the "Express" button.
  • Click "Install Updates".
  • Click "I Accept" if you are presented with license terms for one or more of the updates.
  • Most updates will require a reboot. Click "Restart Now" to restart your machine.

Windows Vista users:
 

  • Navigate to Windows Update. You can navigate to Windows Update by choosing Start→All Programs→Windows Update.
  • Click Check for Updates in the Windows Update window.
  • Click the View Available Updates link.
  • Click to select updates that you want to install, and then click the Install button.
  • Click Restart Now.

Windows 7 Hits Shelves
 

As of today October 22, 2009, Microsoft Windows 7 is the new toy on shelves for PC users to snatch up. This new operating system for Window users has been long awaited for, as many have seen way to many problems with Windows Vista. Unlike Vista, Windows 7 is expected to not be a bulky and memory hogging OS. Microsoft claims it to be “Leaner and less busy” to boost performance.Windows 7 expects to move PC users out of their eight year old operating systems
 

So What Can Users Expect?
 

New features like Home Group make it simple to share music, documents, printers, and everything else with the other PCs running Windows 7 in your house. Windows Search searches quickly and efficiently through your folders. Snap lets you resize your windows by a simple click and move to improve visibility of open windows. The new Task Bar previews, bigger icons, allows pinning for personalization of desktop. Windows 7 (except for Home Basic) includes both 32- and 64-bit software. Windows 7 also provides a compatibility option where users can choose to run an “XP” compatibility mode where OS Windows XP will be running virtually on the background so you can use programs that typically work with XP only.
 

Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7
 

Windows Server 2008 R2 users can expect a better experience when using Windows 7. The Direct Access feature in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 allows Windows 7 client to connect directly to intranet-based resources minus the complexity of a VPN connection.  Also, the Branch Cache feature in Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 Client reduces the network utilization on WAN links that connect branch offices improving end user experience at branch locations, by locally caching used content on the branch office network.
 

All in all Windows 7 is a breath a fresh air and a very much anticipated upgrade from Windows Vista. Consumers can expect to pay between $120- $220 for the operating system.
