Lost in the Trees: Now found

May 04 2012

I came across this band from one of my favorite sources NPR. Please support your local station!

Beautiful music from a somewhat unknown band. This band is from Chapel Hill, NC and the lead songwriter Ari Picker trained at the Berklee School of Music. The music is hauntingly beautiful and complex with a range of soft and delicate to bold and strong arranged together in harmony. The music does not fit a normal genre. You might call it orchetral folk.

Another thing I find interesting is the varied use of instruments not typically found together. The Live NYC concert on npr.org combines your typical guitar keyboard percussion together with cello and violin.

There is a great live video concert of this band available on NPR.org. See this link. http://www.npr.org/event/music/150285656/live-wednesday-lost-in-the-trees-in-concert#

You can also find some good info and a free mp3 download from their last.fm page

Here is a nice interview with Ari: http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/rftmusic/2011/08/lost_in_the_trees.php
